You can bid on free agents. Free Agents are players that are currently not on any teams' roster and have exceeded rookie minimum thresholds..
Example of what post should look like:
Alex Rodriguez (title)
--------------------------------------
Alex Rodriguez, 3B (NYY)
$10M (this is the total amount of the contract, not avg annual value)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contract is $10M total: after a team has won an auction they have the right to sign the player to a contract length dependent upon which point in free agency the league is in.
In-season free agents can only be signed for 1 year.
Off-season Free Agents can be signed for 2,3, or 4 years deepening upon the number of contract years a team has remaining to give out. The total amount of the winning bid is then divided by the number of years of the contract (10M over 2 years becomes 5M annually).
Teams during the inital Free Agency period (following the initial draft and before opening day of year 1 may sign players for 1 or 2 years unless they saved one of the available 3 or 4 year contracts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A player is eligible for Free Agency if he has either of the following:
130+ At-Bats or 50+ Innings Pitched
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All free agent auctions begin with an opening bid and end after 24 hours with no additional bids placed.
