MLB Eligibility
To be MLB eligible, a player must have 130+ career At-Bats or 50+ career Innings Pitched.
If they do not have 130+ career At-Bats or 50+ career Innings Pitched, then they are considers MiLB Prospects and are only eligible to be drafted.
Once a player exceeds the rookie thresholds they are eligible to be signed through Free Agent Auction.
MiLB Prospects
- Minor League Players are defined as any player signed to a Major League Organization and below the rookie thresholds for At-Bats or Innings Pitched (130 ABs and 50 IP respectively).
- Minor League Players can ONLY be acquired through the Minor League Player Draft (held annually) or via trade following completion of the draft.
- Minor Leaguer Players acquired through the Minor League Draft receive 4 year team controlled contracts (with escalating salaries each year).
- Minor Leaguers lose Minor League status once they eclipse the rookie thresholds (50 IP or 130 AB). After losing status they will count toward the salary and roster cap the next season.
Year 1 = $0.5M
Year 2 = $1.0M
Year 3 = $2.0M
Year 4 = $4.0M
- Prior to a player entering his third year while on a Rookie Wage, you have the option to drop the player without cap penalty during the offseason after the year. The player then becomes an unrestricted Free Agent.
- The prospect limit is set at a maximum of 15 per team.
- An international player who is not signed with an MLB team is not eligible for the First Year Player Draft.
- A GM may move prospects to their MLB team roster before they reach rookie thresholds. This will allow people to save on prospect spots.
- When promoted the rookie contract would start immediately upon moving up and he will count against the MLB Roster cap of 30 players.
